Preparation for Hina Matsuri or Doll’s Festival

It is perhaps too early to prepare for this festival since Hina matsuri / Doll’s festival or Girl’s Day  should be celebrate on every third day of March but dad were just so excited to display my dolls so that I can enjoy looking at them.  During Girl’s day here in Japan every family who has a young daughter displays a set of ornamental dolls or Hina Ningyou in a seven red platforms like the Image below.

Image from Wikipedia

The top platform represents imperial dolls consist of  the emperor and the empress (Odairisama & Ohinasama). Other platform represents their assistants , entertainers, musicians  in traditional court dress of the Heian period. (Reference: Wikipedia )

Anyway since our living room is a little crowded and providing a layout for all these dolls and accessories needs a larger space so mom and dad ended  for only one platform, the  Emperor and Empress dolls and the three court ladies, the Bonbori (lamp), tree of flowers.

Dad said that after the celebration it is better to keep these dolls soon because if not it is believe a daughter cannot marry someone. :)

@ Babbie & Kikamz I agree they are too pricey :) fortunately my husband found all these dolls in our stock room that is why we did not need to buy a new set of this dolls.
